e-Journal: Puppet Show Competition

No comments:

On 16th of April 2013, our group, the Sunny Team, organized the Puppet Show Competition. Puppet show is a performance made by people who manipulate the puppets. The aim of having this puppet show competition is to introduce teacher trainees to the wonder and arts of puppetry that touches the lives of many through enchanting performances. There were four participating teams for our puppet show competition. We had two hours of discussion before our competition started.

Preparation for the competition

"Rumpelstiltskin'' was presented by the Sun Group.

"Peter and the Wolf"  by the Candy Girls team.

Overall, we had fun. We learned to converse using our body language and portrayed different characters using our voice. It was a successful event!

Quotes: Express Your Thoughts, Your Life, Your Personalities

I chose this photo and this quote due to the inspiration from Madam Shuba, our English Studies lecturer. I drew a dancer to symbolize the word "Expressive" because I think a dancer can express herself very well. Dancers need this because nobody will enjoy a dance that is unexpressive and meaningless.

Just like a dancer, a teacher too must be expressive. He or she needs to express his or her thoughts in such a way that they are meaningful to the students. For example, a teacher can use her body language and beautiful words to express her thoughts.

Short Reflection: Day 1

Finally, it came to the end of the first day of the English Language Camp. All of us were extremely exhausted but we had enjoyed all the activities today especially the Treasure Hunt. We ran around the whole campus to find the clues. Besides that, we also learned a lot of new knowledge through the etiquette session. We mastered the tips to become an ideal language teacher. Next, we had the puppet show competition where all of us tried our best to tell our story. In addition, we all very satisfied with the food prepared by cafeteria today. In short, we hope that everything can go on smoothly for next two days.
Smile always!

Quotes: An Ideal Language Teacher

The picture was drawn by one of the groups during the second activity of etiquette session, which is "An Ideal Language Teacher".

What are the characteristics of an ideal language teacher? This picture gives me a different view that an ideal language teacher is like a robot who can do anything. It inspires me as I would also like to be an ideal language teacher who is loving, caring, creative and knowledgeable. However, in my opinion, an ideal language teacher must not only be knowledgeable, but he/she should also know how to teach his/her students.

Short Reflection: What Have We Done? (Day 1)

Wow! The first day of the ELC was absolutely brilliant! Everything ran smoothly. The aerobics activity really increased my stamina and it made me energetic too. I really hope that I can have aerobics session once a week with my classmates. My team was the organiser of the Ice-breaking and Treasure Hunt activities. Luckily, both of the activities ran smoothly and my classmates enjoyed them so much. The ice breaking enabled them to know more about each other. During the Ice-breaking and Treasure Hunt, we trained them to listen to their respective instructor and to appreciate the beauty of English Language. However, we faced some problems when counting the marks for Treasure Hunt. I think we should set up a list of strict rules and a specific time for each station next timewhen we conduct. Besides, we should find some more creative and educational games so that all of us can gain more benefits.
